David Nicolay Intern Architect, AIBC.
A Master of Architecture graduate in Nova Scotia, David worked for Schweitzer Bim in Los Angeles under the tutelage of renowned LA designer Josh Schweitzer, working on projects which included offices for Propoganda Films and Johns & Gormans Films, before returning to his hometown Vancouver to establish design firm Structure Design + Build in 1993.
In 2001 he became a founding partner of Evoke.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Robert worked at Wolstoncroft Copland Advertising (Australia), Fisher Design Studio (London, UK), Palmer Jarvis/DDB (Vancouver, Canada) and Foote Cone Belding Advertising (Australia) before settling permanently in Vancouver in 1993, working extensively with Molson Breweries and their promotional partners; NHL, NBA, CFL, Indy Vancouver, as well as House Of Blues Concerts Canada & USA.
In 2001 he became a founding partner of Evoke.
Amanda Hugessen, RID
Amanda is one of the “international” members of Evoke (Toronto). She graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from the University of South Australia in 2005. Upon completing her university degree she became employed with HASSELL Ltd – one of Australia’s leading architecture and design offices – where she gained valuable experience in the design and documentation of large commercial tenancies and smaller speciality projects.
Amanda joined the Evoke team shortly after relocating to Canada, and has since added to her diverse project experience through her work on commercial office spaces such as Pixar Canada’s studio through to many and varied restaurant and residential projects. Amanda’s strengths in collaboration and innovation, with attention to detail and communication abilities, ensure exceptional design solutions are attained.
Dave grew up in Quebec (Canada) where he studied graphic design and fine arts. He lived and worked across North America, experimenting with music, fine arts and applied arts. He worked for some of the largest agencies in Canada, contributing in building and maintaining brands for clients such as: Intrawest, Disney, Nike, Aeroplan, Fido, Molson, TD, The Blue Cross.

After graduation, Mauricio moved to Switzerland to work as a junior architect at RD2B Architecture before returning to his Brazil, where he worked with Guilherme Penteado Mattos as an Architect Project Manager.
In 2011 he joined AEDA DBB São Paulo/NY, and in 2012 relocated to Canada to join Evoke, adding further to the “international” contingent in the studio.
Adam Maitland, M.Arch, B.Des
Adam holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Design with a focus on industrial design from the University of Alberta. He believes in design as a tool to positively impact people’s moods, habits, imagination and overall quality of life. Born and raised in the Canadian prairies, Adam has also lived in London, England and Tokyo, Japan. He suspects however, that Vancouver is where his heart is.
Growing up in Haida Gwaii BC, Pamm was immersed in a community of artists and artisans, which helped foster a strong passion for art and nature. Professionally, she found her feet working in office and project management for some of the top agencies in Canada.
At Evoke, Pamm is the juggler who manages the many moving pieces and helps to see projects through to production.
Pamm is a big supporter of the local movement, when she’s not at the office she can be found attending locally run art shows, shops, and restaurants.
Dean is a designer with a background in construction and custom home building. Has an expertise in moving projects forward from design concept to completion and truly enjoys the client / designer collaboration.
He approaches design with an honest, modern aesthetic, a strong focus on natural materials, simple expression and attention to detail.
Born and raised in BC, Dean spends most of his time playing in the mountains with his family and draws inspiration from the raw, natural beauty of his surroundings.
Meagan Roberts, BA (Hons) Product Design
A Vancouver native, Meagan moved to London at 18 to study design at Central Saint Martins. Working for a leading interior design studio, she collaborated with a range of emerging and established brands, including neighbourhood food stores, independent burger brands and international restaurant chains.
From heritage buildings to contemporary skyscrapers, Meagan believes great design is simple, immediate and always itself. She relishes the daily challenge of seeking out that simplicity in each unique project.
Having lived and worked in one of the most competitive cities in the world for over a decade, Meagan returned home in 2018 to help shape the future of the city she loves.
Lachlan Knox, M.Arch
Lachlan is an Australian designer and graduate of the University of Adelaide’s Master of Architecture degree. Since graduating, he has gained valuable experience on a wide variety of projects ranging in type and scale from large sporting venues through to commercial offices, retail, hospitality and residential dwellings. Through this, Lachlan has developed a balanced set of design values built on thorough space planning, attention to detail and minimalism.
Elizabeth Hodge, B.Int.Arch
Adding to the Australian contingent, Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from the University of South Australia in 2009. Upon graduation Elizabeth worked for several years as an interior designer in Adelaide, South Australia. Seeking cooler climates, a change of scenery and the thrill of working with imperial measurements, she made the move to Vancouver in 2014. Understanding that each project provides a unique set of challenges and opportunities, Elizabeth approaches all of her projects with a dedication to innovative design solutions and an attention to detail that will achieve the best design outcomes for clients.
David holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Universidad Central de Venezuela, a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, He brings to Evoke a multi-disciplinary approach to design that allows him to understand a project from different angles.
Believing in the power of design to positively impact our environment and our lives is his biggest source of inspiration. He enjoys everything that Vancouver, his new home, has to offer, from camping in the summer to skiing in the winter. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
